DESCRIPTION
Pioneer is seeking a Public Affairs Intern to provide general support to Pioneer Hi-Bred’s Public Affairs and Global Communications teams. As a result of exposure to the communications operations and working on various initiatives, the intern will build strategic thinking, project management, oral communication and writing skills while developing an understanding of the role of public relations in a corporate environment. It is also expected that the intern will learn about the various functions within corporate communications, gain a better understanding of agriculture, biotechnology and related issues, and develop knowledge of Pioneer’s media engagement strategies. Provide general support to Public Affairs and global communications organization. Some projects may include daily media monitoring, news release development, meeting attendance, and communications planning, helping with media relations and responding to inquiries, presentation creation and assistance with special events.

QUALIFICATIONS
- College sophomore level or above, majoring in communications, public relations, mass communications, marketing, journalism or related field.
- Computer and research skills, ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, think strategically, be a self-starter and team player.
- Agricultural experience or background is a plus.
